MY TRAINING PHILOSOPHY
My approach focuses on building confidence, communication, trust, and a strong foundation between dog and handler.
I begin by teaching new behaviors through positive reinforcement and clear communication. Once a dog understands what is being asked, I believe in creating consistency and accountability so those behaviors can become reliable in everyday life.
Every dog is different, and training should reflect that. I use a thoughtful, balanced approach and choose training methods and tools based on the individual dog, the behavior being addressed, and the needs of the family. When corrective tools are appropriate, they are introduced carefully and used fairly, with an emphasis on communication rather than punishment.
Most importantly, I want owners to understand why their dog behaves the way they do—not simply what command to give next. I also want them to understand how to communicate with their dog in a way that is clear, consistent, and fair.
MORE THAN OBEDIENCE
I believe dog training should be about more than teaching commands. It should help you understand your dog, communicate clearly, build mutual trust, and create a relationship that allows you to enjoy more of life together.
My approach brings together canine behavior, practical training, and an understanding of animal health and wellness. By understanding how dogs learn and what their body language is communicating, we can create training strategies that make sense to both the dog and the person on the other end of the leash.
Training should build confidence—not just compliance.
Whether we’re working through everyday manners, improving communication, building confidence, or preparing your dog for adventures out in the real world, the goal is to create a dog-and-handler team that works together with trust and understanding.
TRAINING FOR REAL LIFE
Dogs are part of our families, and I believe the best training is the type that helps you live more life with your dog.
I Heart K9 is growing beyond traditional dog training to create more opportunities for owners and their dogs to learn, explore, socialize, and participate in their community together.
Through training, community events, group activities, outings, and dog-friendly experiences, my goal is to help people build the skills and confidence to take their dogs more places and truly enjoy the relationship they have worked so hard to create.
Because ultimately, a well-trained dog shouldn’t just be a dog that behaves at home.
It should be a dog you can enjoy life with.
